Don Rickles Biography

 Don Rickles, an American comedian, author and actor was born in New York. He was one of the most admired and well-known talents in the entertainment industry. His quick wit and funny remarks, paired with his genuine concern for his audience, created an irresistible mix that brought laughter, joy, and amusement. He was a regular on the celebrity roast circuit because of his extraordinary ability to make insults seem funny and inoffensive. He attracted a lot of attention as his insults were mean and hurtful and yet the person at the other end of it would laugh wholeheartedly. He began his career in comedy with a variety of prepared jokes. However, he discovered that the audience liked his spontaneous insults over the more conventional material. His style of comedy was adored by many people, among them Frank Sinatra. He was featured in a variety of films and TV programs. He also released two comedy records. He received numerous awards like a Lifetime Achievement award at The Comedy Awards. His style of insinuation comedy has earned him many nicknames, such as 'The Merchant of Venom', 'The Insultan'and "Mr. Don Rickles was only able to get small TV roles following his graduation. To supplement his income, he started performing stand-up comedy and eventually developed his 'insult comedian" persona. He started the 1970s with a very important role in the hit movie 'Kelly's Heroes' (1970), which starred Clint Eastwood. He made several appearances on television comedy shows like The Dean Martin Roasts' (1973) or The Don Rickles Program' (1972). Barbara Sklar, Don Rickles's wife, got married to him on the 14th of March, 1965. They had two children: Mindy and Larry. Their son passed away in the year the year 2011. His most cherished friend was Bob Newhart and the two often vacationed together with their wives. They have been on numerous shows together such as 'Newhart.' Don Rickles died of kidney failure on April 6, 2017, in his residence in Beverly Hills, California.
